About the event
Personal archives represent an important set of evidence of culture and life in society. Produced outside the boundaries of institutions such files offer the researcher opportunities to investigate many areas of knowledge and societal mechanisms of identification, belonging and memory.
In this conference we intend to explore issues that deal with different sides (for and against) between the right to privacy and the right of access to information taking into account the nature of the documents created in private life, the use of information technology, acquisition policies of public institutions responsible of the preservation of archival heritage, social memory, the place personal archives have in the preservation of cultural heritage, individuality and society.
